Nikola Jokic just keeps on pulling off surprises. On Tuesday night, the Denver Nuggets superstar center left everyone stunned again with a performance that sparked lots of reactions.

Against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Ball Arena in Denver, the seven-time NBA All-Star stitched together another triple-double performance.

Trip-dubs aren’t new for Jokic. In fact, he is already averaging in double digits in points, rebounds and assists in the 2024-25 NBA regular season. But the triple-double that he hit Minnesota with was just the third of its kind — a 60-point trip-dub.

Jokic finished the game with a total of 61 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. He shot 18-for-29 from the field and hit 19 of his 24 attempts from the free throw line.

Unfortunately for Jokic and the Nuggets, his incredible showing went for naught, as Denver suffered a 140-139 double-overtime loss to the Timberwolves.

According to StatMuse, it was just the first 60-point triple-double ever in the NBA in a loss.

Late-game blunders cost the Denver Nuggets a win against Minnesota

The Nuggets were still clinging to a one-point lead with under 20 seconds left in the second overtime, but miscues by Russell Westbrook ultimately resulted in Denver losing the contest.

That being said, the Nuggets losing the possession battle in the game to the Timberwolves can also help explain Denver’s fate. Although Minnesota shot just 46.8 percent from the floor, the Timberwolves outshot Denver by a huge margin, 111-86. In addition, Minnesota had 21 offensive rebounds to just eight by the Nuggets.

Denver dropped to 47-29 and is now just half a game in front of the Los Angeles Lakers for the third spot in the Western Conference standings.
