The Dallas Mavericks lost their second game in a row after a 106-102 loss against the Miami Heat.
The Dallas Mavericks were competitive and nearly pulled off the win as they were tied with the Miami Heat with less than a minute to go.
However, the Heat prevailed for their fifth straight victory. Meanwhile, the Mavericks fell to 5-14 as their season continues to slip away.
Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II have all been out, which has hurt the Mavericks’ chances at competing this season.
Lively II has been limited to seven games this season following offseason foot surgery and a knee issue.
Lively II will now miss at least the next three games while being evaluated for swelling and discomfort in his surgically repaired right foot, the Mavericks announced Tuesday.
Without Lively II, the Mavericks are a far less competitive team. Dating back to last season, the Mavericks were 20-16 with Lively II in the lineup compared to 19-27 without him.
So far this season, the Mavericks are 2-4 with Lively II and 3-10 without him for a win percentage of .231.
| Season | WITH Lively II (W-L) | Win % | WITHOUT Lively II (W-L) | Win % | Total Season W-L |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024-25 | 20 – 16 | .556 | 19 – 27 | .413 | 39 – 43 |
| 2025-26 (Current) | 2 – 4 | .333 | 3 – 10 | .231 | 5 – 14 |
The Mavericks are also awaiting the return of Davis, but the good news is he could be returning soon.
The Mavericks’ big man has been out nearly a month with a calf injury.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Davis is scheduled to practice Wednesday as he’s looking to be cleared for his first game action since October 29.
The Mavericks play the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night in Los Angeles, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
