Derrick White's favorite Joe Mazzulla quote shows Celtics HC's intensity

Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla has become known for his no-nonsense approach to the media, and he acts the same way behind closed doors.

With Mazzulla becoming more quotable by the day, Celtics point guard Derrick White was asked on Thursday if he has a favorite quote from his head coach. White recalled congratulating Mazzulla on winning coach Eastern Conference Coach of the Month, and Mazzulla had a blunt two-word response.

Mazzulla told White, “Nobody cares.”

That is hardly a surprise. Mazzulla is a very intense guy. He probably does not care much about individual awards, especially monthly ones.

Mazzulla is on the verge of winning an NBA title in his second season on the job. Before last season, he unexpectedly took over for the Celtics when Ime Udoka was ousted for violating team policy. The 35-year-old Mazzulla has shown he is up to the task and has delivered some great lines.
