After the trade to the Orlando Magic, Desmond Bane has settled in well. His addition is a big part of the team's upcoming campaign in the 2025-26 season. Together with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, Bane could lead the Magic to a strong campaign.
The Magic front office has done well with boosting the team's chances of competing in the Eastern Conference. With the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers losing their superstar players, the Magic could step up and become a contender.
Bane is a welcome addition to the Magic roster with his knockdown shooting and experience as a perennial Playoff-level player in Memphis. The Magic have been looking for a knockdown shooter for the longest time, so Bane will be helpful.
Banchero and Wagner are the team's star players, but they do not provide Bane's elite shooting. This is a much more complete team than before, which could be the key to competing in the Eastern Conference's upper echelon.
Aside from Bane, they have continued to improve their roster, including the signing of former Grizzlies guard Tyus Jones.
After a year with the Phoenix Suns, Jones is on the move again, and this time it's to Orlando. He is reunited with Bane in the backcourt, which provides fantastic depth behind Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black.
The Magic have been looking for a stable point guard to take over, which could be good to put alongside Suggs and Black. Bane will be the starting shooting guard, but head coach Jamahl Mosley has plenty of options at the lead guard.
Suggs is likely the top choice, considering he is a superb defender. When the team needs a level-headed playmaker, Jones is a great option to have on the roster. With this addition, Bane is ecstatic about Jones joining up.
"Tyus is one of my favorite teammates I’ve ever played with. Locker room presence, great family man, and on the court, he’s steady. We call him ‘stones’, he is a rock, whether it’s making a big pass, knocking down a shot, getting the team organized, he is the centerpiece," Bane said on The Sixth Man Show.
"Whether he’s coming off the bench, whether he’s starting, somebody that you can always turn to, he’ll be there, he’ll be steady."
The New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers are the established contenders in the 2025-26 season. Alongside them, the dark horses are the Magic and the Atlanta Hawks.
For the Magic, Banchero and Wagner are the stars who can take them to the top. Bane's addition boosts that even more, as Mosley has all the tools in his arsenal to compete with the best East teams.
Desmond Bane says Wendell Carter is the @OrlandoMagic X-factor: "If you if you look at modern day 5s, Dell can switch 1 through 5. He's making great decisions in the pocket on his rolls. He's finishing strong around the rim, shooting 3s...he's a guy that can really open… https://t.co/3SmAEP7XCs pic.twitter.com/Atv7XUV0AK

It will be a challenging season, but the Magic have the solid defense and the offensive firepower to compete for a top seed in the East. They could even go on a strong Playoff run if they are lucky enough.
Bane and Jones are new additions to the team, but they are prepared to help the team and make the team contenders.
