Detroit Pistons Provide Jaden Ivey Injury Update Before Playoffs

For most of the 2024-25 NBA season, the Detroit Pistons have been without one of their best players. Still, they have clinched their first postseason appearance since 2019, and look to be one of the more dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference.

Finally surrounding Cade Cunningham with shooting and spacing, as well as a firey head coach, seems to have paid off, and once Jaden Ivey returns, the Pistons will continue to improve.

The team gave an injury update on Ivey before the playoffs start.

In 30 games, all starts, Ivey averaged 17.6 points, four assists, and shot 40.9 percent from deep after not being a shooting threat in his first two NBA seasons.

Ivey likely won't return in time for the first round, but he could make a return in the postseason if the Pistons advance.

"He has been cleared for basketball activity and will now enter the beginning phase of a re-conditioning progression along with a continued progression of court work," the Pistons announced in a statement on  Thursday. "Ivey's status will be updated in another two weeks."

The postseason will officially start on April 19, and the second round will begin, at the very earliest, on May 3. By then, Detroit will have provided another update, and Ivey could be removed from the injury report.

However, there is a very real case to be made that Ivey should be remained shut down for the rest of the season, since his conditioning and strength need to return and the Pistons have fared well without him.

With Ivey in the lineup, Detroit went 14-16 to start the season.
