As the longest-tenured member of the current Phoenix Suns roster, Devin Booker is the most important player on the team. He signed a two-year extension that keeps him in Phoenix until 2030 with the team that drafted him.

For the longest time, Booker has remained in Phoenix to help the Suns succeed. They reached the NBA Finals in 2021, and he almost led them to a championship. The Suns have tried to return to the Finals, but have failed at every instance since.

Over the past few seasons, Booker has not reached the Suns' fullest potential. Even though they had Booker teaming up with star players Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, they failed to return to championship contention.

Now that the other star players have left the team, this is Booker's team. He is focused on helping the Suns return to championship contention. Booker has stayed loyal to the Suns, and he is committed to helping the team.

Booker Wants a Championship In Phoenix

Since 2015, Booker has been focused on improvement and helping the Suns compete for a championship. He went through so many tough losses in his career, especially during the early part when they were the bottom dwellers in the Western Conference.

As the star player, Booker is playing under immense pressure. However, he wants to help the Suns win a championship because he feels the city deserves it. Now that he is entering his 11th NBA season, he wants to keep to his word.

"From being at the bottom and almost getting the job done, I have unfinished business here. I know how much it would mean to this city and this organization," Booker said on the Suns' media day ahead of the 2025-26 season.

"The leadership aspect is going to be more important than ever this year. Realizing our roster, the age of our roster, and just the experience that I’ve had and what I’ve seen. I’m gonna do what I can. Always gonna use my voice."

The Suns are an Underrated Team Ahead of the 2025-26 Season

After a disastrous couple of seasons for the Suns, they have chosen a new direction with the team. Booker is ready to be the star player, and the rest of the team will have to follow his lead.

New additions Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks will be strong additions, considering they have the quality to help a Playoff charge. They were part of the Houston Rockets' trade package for Durant, so they have to live up to expectations ahead of the season.

New head coach Jordan Ott also has some expectations to meet, as he was the organization's choice for the next long-term head coach. The Suns have gone through multiple coaches over the past few seasons, and Ott is the next man up.

At only 40, Ott is a relatively young coach. However, he is ready to step up and help Booker achieve the team's goal of winning a championship. It will be unlikely given they are in the West alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. However, the Suns will do their best to compete.
