The Phoenix Suns faced an unexpected hurdle ahead of their matchup against the Houston Rockets.

After a comeback win over Oklahoma City, Phoenix had its flight canceled due to mechanical issues. The delay created concern about preparation and rest before a key Western Conference game.

ESPN reporter Tim MacMahon reported that the team’s flight was grounded late at night.

"The Suns’ flight was canceled due to mechanical issues last night after their comeback win over the Thunder," MacMahon wrote. "The team is scheduled to take off at 10 a.m. MT to fly to Houston for tonight’s game."

Phoenix management chose to reschedule before players reached the airport.

"Phoenix management made the decision to reschedule the flight before players left for the airport, at least allowing them to get a decent night of sleep at home," MacMahon wrote. "The alternative was to wait for the mechanical issues to be fixed and land in Houston around dawn."

The timing matters as Phoenix enters the game at 21-14, sitting seventh in the West. Houston holds a 21-11 record and rides a five-game home winning streak. The Rockets have already beaten Phoenix twice this season, including a lopsided loss in early December. Travel disruption only adds pressure for a Suns team trying to gain ground.

Devin Booker remains the focal point for Phoenix. He averages 25.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. Booker has carried the offense in close games and recently hit a game-winning three against Oklahoma City. His scoring and playmaking keep Phoenix competitive, even when circumstances turn difficult.

The Suns average 115.3 points per game and rely heavily on perimeter shooting. Defensive lapses, especially on the road, remain an issue. Houston presents a tough test with its efficient offense and physical style. Injuries have also impacted both teams, adding more uncertainty.

Despite the scare, Phoenix expects to arrive in Houston with enough time to prepare. How quickly the Suns reset mentally could shape the outcome. With Booker leading the way, Phoenix will try to overcome the disruption and avoid another loss to a rising Rockets team.
