Did Tyler Herro send message to Heat on Instagram?

The Miami Heat reportedly are targeting Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, a seven-time NBA All-Star who requested a trade from Portland in July. The Heat do not have many valuable assets to offer, but the centerpiece of any trade likely would start with former Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro.

This is not the first time the budding Heat star has been involved in trade rumors for Miami. Last offseason, Herro was involved in trade discussions for Kevin Durant.

Herro averaged 20.1 points in his fourth season with the Heat this past season. However, due to injury, he missed nearly the entire postseason in which Miami made an incredible run to the NBA Finals. To some, that made him an expendable piece of Miami's roster.

Herro's relationship with the Heat might already be damaged, as he recently shared an Instagram post that suggested he is tired of being considered a tradeable asset. The post contained lyrics from a song called "SKITZO" by Travis Scott. The lyrics were as follows:

"I ran it back last time but it ain't last time."

It is possible that Herro was simply enjoying the song and wanted to share it with others. The song is from Scott's new album "Utopia," which reached the top charts on music streaming services. However, given the content and timing of this post, there is likely a deeper meaning.

The term "run it back" is typically used in context with a team that keeps the same roster as the previous season. The Heat competed in the 2022-23 season with a similar roster to the one they had the season prior. This offseason, they appear more interested in shaking up the roster to add another star.

Herro and the Heat are moving in different directions. At this point, it might be impossible to repair the damage caused by trade rumors surrounding the sharpshooter. If Miami is unable to trade for Lillard or another star, it could be in trouble next season.
