PHOENIX – It was a hectic night full of insanity as the Phoenix Suns lost to the Lakers after a wild ending on Sunday. Phoenix never gave up and didn’t surrender on Sunday night, although they couldn’t finish the comeback as they were defeated by Los Angeles by a score of 116-114.

The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers spent Sunday night trading punches, a chess match disguised as a street fight. Every run was answered, every whistle was debated, and every minute, both teams were locked in. Devin Booker hunted space with surgical patience, while Dillon Brooks played the antagonist with purpose, jawing with LeBron James as the temperature rose. It felt inevitable that the last six minutes would decide it. The chippiness mattered, as the Suns taking on their rival at home always brings a different layer of intensity. Technicals were flying, words were being exchanged, and Phoenix didn’t back down, no matter what the score was.

Late in the second half, the Lakers flipped the math. They increased rim pressure, forced rotations, and turned live-ball rebounds into early-clock attacks. Phoenix just looked completely out of sync offensively to begin the fourth quarter as their efficiency dipped, and the scoreboard followed. Late in the fourth quarter, Dillon Brooks hit a massive three-pointer, and then was ejected after an altercation with LeBron James. The Lakers inbounded the ball to LeBron James, and Devin Booker fouled James on his hand, giving him three free throws. Phoenix still had a chance at the end after Grayson Allen possibly drew a foul call, though it went the Lakers’ way and Los Angeles escaped with a victory.

Phoenix turned the tables late with a little over five minutes left in the fourth quarter. Dillon Brooks’ late threes energized their team and brought the Suns right back into it. Phoenix was able to capitalize on late-game momentum and rely on its stars to get themselves right back into it, although it couldn’t complete the comeback and lost by a score of 116-114 on Sunday night. The Suns will face off against Los Angeles again, back in Downtown Phoenix on December 23rd, and will surely be looking to get some payback.
