Dillon Brooks lands $73 million contract extension with Suns

Dillon Brooks will be with the Phoenix Suns for more years to come after he and the Western Conference franchise agreed to a huge contract extension, as reported by NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.

From Charania on X (formerly Twitter): “Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension through 2029-30, Mike George of Klutch Sports tells ESPN. Brooks has become a key part of the Suns two-way, hard-nosed culture under Jordan Ott and lands a new guaranteed long-term deal.”

“The Suns could offer Dillon Brooks a max of four years and $125M on a new extension — an AAV of $31.25M. His new three-year, $73M extension that was agreed upon today is an AAV of $24.33M, which locks him in through the 2029-30 season.”

The former Oregon Ducks star turned a lot of heads in his first season with the Suns in the 2025-26 campaign. A part of the blockbuster and circuitous seven-team trade that extricated Kevin Durant from Phoenix in the summer of 2025, Brooks proved himself as more than just a dependable defender for the Suns. Brooks averaged a career-high 20.2 points and 3.6 rebounds, while posting a 50.1 effective field goal percentage across 56 games.

While his offensive efficiency can still be improved, Brooks’ willingness to take more shots helped the Suns surpass expectations in the first season of the franchise’s post-Kevin Durant era.

Not many expected Phoenix to go places after Durant left, but the Suns managed to reach the playoffs, thanks in large part to Brooks, who stepped up and made his presence felt on both ends of the court, especially during the absence of Jalen Green due to injury.
