After Dillon Brooks was adamant in his comments about the wrong call on the technical foul on Tuesday night, the NBA Officials have released a statement rescinding Brooks’ technical foul against the Nets.
Dillon Brooks has never pretended to be subtle. His value comes from his intensity, the kind that gets under opponents’ skin and into a coach’s rotation. That’s why the technical foul he drew last night mattered so much. Called his 15th of the season, it put Brooks one misstep away from an automatic suspension. After the game, Brooks said he believed the call should be rescinded, and on Wednesday, the NBA agreed.

After the 106-102 victory last night over the Brooklyn Nets, Brooks mentioned to Duane Rankin from AZCentral his thoughts on the entire altercation with Nets’ Egor Dёmin under the basket towards the end of the first half.
From Tuesday:
Dillon Brooks drew closer to suspension when picking up his 15 tech and 4th flagrant 1 in Suns win over Nets.
Another tech, one-game suspension. Two flagrant 1s or one flagrant 2, one-game suspension.

On paper, it’s a small administrative move. In practice, it’s strategic oxygen for Phoenix. Under NBA rules, a player is suspended one game upon receiving a 16th technical foul, with each two thereafter triggering another one-game ban. By rescinding the call, the league reset Brooks to 14, helping the Suns out where availability often matters more than aesthetics.
Teams lose measurable defensive efficiency when a primary perimeter stopper sits. Brooks’ on-ball pressure and willingness to absorb the villain role consistently correlate with lower opponent field-goal percentages on the wing. That edge, however, only helps if he’s on the floor. For Suns fans, this moment cuts deeper than box scores. Brooks embodies controlled chaos and has been more than a leader so far for the Suns this season. Any missed time from Brooks, while Phoenix is also dealing with injuries to Devin Booker and Jalen Green, would put them in an even tougher scenario moving forward.
