Donovan Mitchell Gets Called Out By Kendrick Perkins: ‘You Got JB Bickerstaff Fired’

Former Cleveland Cavaliers big man Kendrick Perkins called out Donovan Mitchell on the latest Road Trippin’ episode. 

Perkins said every team Mitchell leads is soft. He also said Spida got JB Bickerstaff fired last offseason. 

“Donovan Mitchell, we don’t want to hear it brother,” Perkins said. “We don’t want to hear it. This is why we don’t want to hear this about, what he said. What did he say yesterday? ‘We’re gonna what? And count us out’ or something? What are you talking about Donovan?

“A Donovan Mitchell-led team has never been to the Conference Finals. Donovan Mitchell, you got a coach fired. You got JB Bickerstaff fired. This is a fact. You had no communication with that man while he was there. You didn’t like him, right? Soon as he got fired, you signed a contract extension, right? You extended with the Cavs.”

The Cavaliers had the top record in the East this year. However, they lost to the Indiana Pacers in the second round in five games. 

Mitchell is one of the best players in the NBA. However, as Perkins pointed out, Mitchell has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs. 

Mitchell had a great year for the Cavaliers. He averaged 24.0 points in the regular season and 29.6 points in the postseason. No one can blame him for the Cavaliers going home early. 

“Just couldn’t believe it,” Mitchell said. “Didn’t want to believe it, don’t want to believe it, still don’t want to believe it. It’s tough. It’s tough to win in this league. Give them credit — we didn’t do the things necessary.

“I told you all during the year, we’re going to be judged by this. There will be a lot of talk. That’s what comes with it. Didn’t capitalize. So now we gotta use this as motivation. Everybody’s gonna write us off, everybody in here. It’s not personal, (but) what are we going to do about it next year?”
