Donovan Mitchell reportedly happy with and believes in Cavs
David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Donovan Mitchell trade rumors won’t be going away. That much we already know.

But that doesn’t make them true.

As one opposing executive told Hoops Wire, Mitchell very well could sign an extension with the Cavs after the season, as we relayed here and on the Cavs on the Break podcast.

That’s not all. As Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported, Mitchell appears to be truly enjoying his time with the Cavaliers and isn’t contemplating a way out. And as we wrote, the Cavs have zero intention of trading him.

“The Cavs aren’t in a situation where they are even interested in listening to what teams are going to offer them for Donovan Mitchell,” Fedor said on the Wine & Gold podcast. “They’re not even considering that at the moment.

“Beyond that, and I’ve talked to Donovan about this multiple times, he is happy right now where he is at. He is happy being a Cleveland Cavalier. He believes in this team. He believes in this roster. He helped recruit Georges Niang and Max Strus because he knew after going through that playoff series against the Knicks that the Cavs, if they were going to take the next step as an organization, needed to improve their shooting and their floor spacing.”

Again, the rumors aren’t going to die. That’s just life in the NBA. Mitchell knows that, the Cavs know that. But they also know the truth, and that’s that Mitchell and the Cavs are staying together at least through this season, and perhaps well beyond.
