The 2025 NBA Finals will have the first ultimate Game 7 since the 2016 edition. This series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers has been entertaining, and it deserves a blockbuster end.

This year’s NBA Finals are a welcome surprise to the NBA community. People thought it was a lopsided matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers. It was fair to have those expectations because the Thunder are on a historic campaign.

As the Thunder’s superstar and the league MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knows what it means to be at this stage. Ahead of the do-or-die game on Sunday, Gilgeous-Alexander acknowledged how important this game is for everyone.

Paycom Center will host this final game. It will be loud, as the fans will urge their team to win the title. The pressure is on them, especially if people like Draymond Green feel their future is in jeopardy if they lose.

Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder understand the gravity of Game 7

While most of the NBA community is celebrating the do-or-die Game 7, OKC and Indiana’s fans are biting their nails. This will be the most important game of the year because it’s for all the marbles. Both teams know this, as they are ready to leave it all on the court.

In the media day before Game 7, Gilgeous-Alexander made sure to address his understanding of the game’s importance. It is the franchise’s best chance of winning the championship for the first time since 1979. Back then, the Thunder were still the Seattle SuperSonics.

“Really exciting opportunity, like a dream come true. Above all, I try to look at it as a blessing. I will go out there and be the best version of myself,” Gilgeous-Alexander said in his press conference.

“I think that’s what we need to do across the board.

“Don’t try to do anything spectacular, don’t try to do anything you haven’t done before. Or be less than who you are and what got you here.”

Gilgeous-Alexander and his Thunder teammates are focusing on the task at hand. The Pacers humiliated the Thunder in Game 6 of the Finals, so they are seeking payback by winning the title. It will be challenging because the Pacers always step up in times of adversity.

Game 7 is the opportunity the Thunder need to cement their legacy

After a 68-win regular season, the pressure has been on the Thunder to deliver in the Playoffs. It is difficult for them to bear this pressure, but they have the opportunity to prove their greatness. Game 7 is on their home floor, so they have the advantage over the Pacers.

They must play at their peak level because the Pacers are ready to capitalize. Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, and the rest of the team want to shock the world. It is up to Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and the Thunder to stamp out the Pacers’ hopes.

That is a challenging task, but they must do it to win a championship. If they cement their legacy as champions, it will allow them to develop into a dynasty. The Thunder have multiple years of greatness ahead, and they can jumpstart that Thunder era with a Game 7 win.
