Minnesota Timberwolves star Donte DiVincenzo has personally vouched for the development of his teammate.
After reaching the Western Conference Finals for two seasons in a row, the Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to take the next step.
In a loaded West, this is going to be incredibly hard to do, especially as the Timberwolves did not really make a big splash in the offseason.
Instead they hope their consistency and togetherness will keep them on track, along with the impact of rookie Joan Beringer.
And then there is the Anthony Edwards factor. The Timberwolves possess one of the NBA’s most exciting stars.
Speaking at media day, Donte DiVincenzo was asked about the hard work Anthony Edwards has been putting in during the offseason.
DiVincenzo pointed out that due to his late trade to Minnesota shortly before the 2024-25 season, he has no comparison point to what Edwards did last summer.
But he was keen to say that since he arrived in Minnesota, he has personally witnessed impressive growth from Edwards.
“I didn’t know what he was doing last summer, but I think his attention to detail this summer is something that he’s really focused on, being very simple, getting to the moves that he wants to get to.
“I think that simplicity factor is huge for him, and making the balance of making plays for himself and others.
“You’ve seen it, we’ve been playing, playing pickup, and you just see everything he’s been trying to work on, he’s trying to implement in the game situation.
“And he’s continuing to grow, like where he is right now from when I first got here. It’s only been a year, and it’s completely a huge growth.”
Anthony Edwards is only 24 years old and has already built up a very impressive resume in his career.
Last year his Timberwolves team eliminated the Lakers and Warriors to reach the Western Conference Finals, before coming unstuck against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The previous year they beat the defending champions Denver Nuggets, before falling to the Dallas Mavericks.
Edwards left both playoffs with his reputation enhanced, but in the knowledge that he has more work to do, and he hopes that this coming season he can help the Timberwolves take the next step.
