Golden State Warriors Forward Draymond Green has been fined $50,000 for “questioning the integrity of the officials.” Green commented on the supposed betting line on the game. As we all know, this is not his first fine or run-in with the league. He’s accrued nearly $1 million in fines during his NBA career.

Draymond Green’s Comment

The comment that Green made that led to the fine was related to the supposed betting line on the Warriors game. Green said, “5.5, I know what y’all are doing.” This comment suggested that the refs were making calls against Golden State. That is not an uncommon thing for fans to say, but it is not good for players to say. The NBA doesn’t like these kinds of comments.

The bigger thing here isn’t his comments, it’s the fact that he fouled out of the game before he said them. It’s a constant theme of Green not controlling his emotions, and it once again harmed his teammates. No matter how long he’s been in the league, the drama and the antics never cease.

Draymond Green’s Talent Has Always Been There

You don’t win four championships by doing nothing. Green is one of the best defensive players of his time and is still great. It is just frustrating to see such a talented player constantly have off-court issues. He is still playing at a good level and needs to be better and more disciplined.

The other aspect of this was the time he fouled out. He fouled out in the third quarter with just over four minutes left. There was still another quarter of basketball. He’s the type of player who, when he exits the game, it is noticeable. He needs to find a way to be more disciplined when the games matter. The game could have been much closer if he were out on the court.

Last Thoughts

Draymond Green is still a fantastic player in the NBA, and the $50,000 fine probably means next to nothing to him. But the facts are that he is making the Warriors worse without him on the court. This is nothing new, and it’s well documented, but basketball fans have to be fed up with a player of his talent level continuing to have off-court antics.
