Draymond Green is a successful player with four NBA championships to his name with the Golden State Warriors. He has never been a superstar, but he is a prominent running mate for Warriors star Stephen Curry.
Throughout the past decade, Draymond Green has been a constant presence in the NBA circles. He is one of the most polarizing players in modern NBA history because he loves talking trash, but he backs it up with success. With four NBA championships playing for the Golden State Warriors, he has earned the right to talk some smack.
Unfortunately, Green is unpopular, which has led to him receiving some unfair criticism. Green’s critics often call him Stephen Curry’s sidekick, which is not how Green sees himself. He knows that his longtime teammate thinks of him highly.
The four-time champion forward has remained loyal to the Warriors and Curry. With that, Curry is repaying him with the same loyalty they have shared since 2012. They are looking to play together until the end, as the Warriors are committed to maximizing their window.
Despite the critics always calling him out, Green is assured in his legacy. He knows his entire career in the Bay Area has cemented him as one of the franchise’s biggest legends. Green is a four-time champion, and he played a vital role in every single one of those championships.
Most people will attribute their success to Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant. However, Green has played a massive role with his playmaking, elite defense, and strong leadership. He can be abrasive to some people, especially the officials, but he is a proven player.
With two All-NBA nods, four All-Star Game appearances, nine All-Defensive Team nods, and a Defensive Player of the Year award, Green has an impressive resume. When asked about his legacy being a ‘footnote’ to Curry’s career, Green is confident that he will be fondly remembered.
“I don’t think there’s any bigger Steph fan than me. I don’t think there’s a bigger supporter, a bigger believer… No, I never feel that, and he would never let me feel that,” Green said to Kerith Burke about his relationship with Curry.
“Everybody else can say what they want to say, and that’s fine, but I know how he feels, and as long as I know how the man feels, that’s good enough for me. I know the love and support and appreciation he has for me.”
Even if people dislike him throughout his career, it will be hard to deny Green’s legacy with the Warriors. He is one of the best defenders in NBA history, as he can legitimately guard players in all five positions.
Green has the trophy cabinet to prove himself, as he cemented a legacy with the Warriors that cannot be diminished. Curry, Thompson, and Durant might be the players who scored the most points, but Green was their best defender.

Head coach Steve Kerr should also be commended for believing in Green like no other coach. Kerr was the reason Green became such a good player, and they share the legacy they have built with their four rings.
Even Curry will defend Green from those critics because he knows the 6’8″ forward has been a crucial reason for their success. The longtime Warriors will stand by each other, and they want to retire with an unmatched legacy in Golden State.
