Draymond Green Says The Phoenix Suns With Kevin Durant Are The Favorites In The Western Conference
Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Green may sound supremely confident, but there's no denying that Golden State has had a wobbly season so far.

Draymond Green minced no words when he said the Phoenix Suns with Kevin Durant in the fold are the new favorites in the Western Conference. But he also said adding that his team, the Golden State Warriors is out there and that makes for tough competition.

Durant was traded to the Suns in what was rightly dubbed a blockbuster trade. In exchange, the Brooklyn Nets received Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, Cameron Johnson, and four first-round picks.

Speaking on his podcast, 'The Draymond Green Show', the forward is confident that the Suns, despite being a powerhouse, would still have the Warriors threat to vault over.

"They have to be favorites in the west, definitely on paper… but the Dubs are still in the west."

Green may sound supremely confident, but there's no denying that Golden State has had a wobbly season so far. At the other end, the Suns have been on the rise, and Durant's arrival further bolsters their offense. His move came in soon after Kyrie Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

Draymond Green Gets Real On The Suns Losing Mikal Bridges

One of the promising and bigger names who will now ply his trade for the Nets is Mikal Bridges. The forward was one of the revelations for the Suns and had been with them for four seasons.

This season saw him average 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. And the league-changing move now sees him on a team where he does have the opportunity to excel as a complete player. However, Green saw this as a loss for the Suns.

"You add Kevin Durant to Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton...phew... that's tough lineup. Monty Williams is a great coach as we know and that's a tough lineup. Losing Mikal Bridges is not a small thing. Number 1, Mikal Bridges continues to get better. He's gotten better with the ball, his shot has gotten better, his mid-range is money and as we all know, he is an incredible defender. He's a huge asset."

On his part, Bridges had a rather funny reaction after news of his trade broke on Twitter.

It does come as a misfortune for Bridges who has been one of the Suns' stars, especially when contributing heavily in the absence of some of the big names. But there was no other way the side could have landed Durant.

Only time will tell if Bridges and Ben Simmons can mesh together and be a dynamic duo for the Nets.
