The Golden State Warriors enter the 2025-26 campaign looking to capitalize on the momentum that saved their previous season. After a turbulent start, the team found new life following Jimmy Butler’s midseason arrival, finishing the year with a 23-7 run that carried them into the Western Conference second round.

Stephen Curry will continue to lead the franchise in his 17th NBA season, alongside All-Stars Draymond Green and Butler. Despite several players being linked to Golden State, the franchise has largely stayed quiet this summer. But much of the conversation has centered around the future of Jonathan Kuminga heading into training camp.

This summer has been relatively quiet for Golden State on the transaction front, but Warriors players have kept their names in the headlines through offseason workouts. One clip in particular caught attention when Butler was seen training alongside teammate Buddy Hield. The video quickly circulated on social media, prompting a playful response from Green.

“What a [expletive] workout… come on back to the west Jimbo,” Green wrote on Threads. “You don’t like Buddy anyway.”

Since Butler’s trade to Golden State in February, he has helped propel the Warriors. In 30 appearances for the Warriors, he averaged 17.9 points, 5.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds. With Butler's contributions, the Warriors clinched the 7th seed in the regular season and took down the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

However, Golden State’s playoff run ended with a 4-1 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Conference semifinals following an injury to Curry in Game 1. But the team’s late-season turnaround has fueled optimism for what lies ahead.

Warriors Still Waiting to Resolve Jonathan Kuminga's Contract

With training camp a few weeks away, the Warriors continue to sit in offseason limbo with roster moves on hold while restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga’s contract situation remains unsettled. The 22-year-old forward rejected the franchise’s two-year, $45 million offer that carries a team option (via ESPN's Shams Charania and Anthony Slater), and the impasse has prevented the Warriors from finalizing other agreements. With the October 1 qualifying-offer deadline approaching, the standoff has added urgency to the team’s preparations for the season.

Once Kuminga’s future is resolved, the Warriors are expected to move quickly to complete deals with several targets. Golden State has been linked to veteran big man Al Horford, who is coming off another playoff run with the Boston Celtics and remains a free agent (via Jake Fischer of The Stein Line).
