Draymond Green Turns Charles Barkley's Own Words Against Him in First Post After Round-1 Win
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors got the last laugh after holding off the Houston Rockets in Game 7 of their first-round series, which carried over from the postgame interviews to the players' social media reactions following the hard-fought victory.

Draymond Green, among the NBA's most notorious trash talkers, led the way by flaming TNT analyst Charles Barkley on Instagram and using the former star's own words to do it.

Barkley, who has a complicated history with Green over the years, guaranteed a victory for the Rockets in Houston on Sunday, May 4. Green posted video of that prediction after it fell flat. The Warriors on NBCS account then shared Green's post on X.

"Draymond isn't letting Chuck's pregame prediction slide ," NBCS Warriors wrote

The clip Green shared actually included a back-and-forth between Barkley and his "Inside the NBA" co-host Shaquille O'Neal.

"I think the Rockets are going to win tonight," Barkley said. "Steph [Curry] gonna be aggressive, but it's not gonna be enough. I'm guaranteeing the Rockets win tonight."

"Guarantee it, then" O'Neal challenged.

"Oh, guarantee!" Barkley shouted in response.

Green's only commentary came in the form of a two-word caption under the video.

"Love Charles," Green wrote.

Barkley wasn't the only Warriors' doubter after Golden State blew a 3-1 lead, losing by 15-point and eight-point margins, respectively, in Games 5 and 6. But the Warriors turned up the defensive pressure, and the Rockets -- who struggled for most of the series to score in the half-court game -- weren't able to execute their shot-making as effectively as they had over the previous two contests.

The end result was an 89-point performance from Houston and a relatively comfortable 14-point win for the Warriors, which was perhaps the only time one could invoke the word "comfortable" to describe anything about the first-round series on Golden State's behalf.

The team will now travel to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of their second round series on Tuesday night.
