Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has never been shy about speaking his mind. At the team’s annual media day, he delivered one of the most memorable soundbites when the topic turned to NBA players and podcasts.
When asked which player without a podcast should start one, Green gave his nod to teammate Buddy Hield, saying the guard’s personality would make him entertaining. But when the follow-up question asked who shouldn’t have a podcast, Green wasted no time before mentioning LeBron James.
“That’s harsh,” Green said with a grin. “Bron.”
When pressed on why he singled out the Los Angeles Lakers star, Green laughed it off, adding: “Because how many other opportunities do I get to throw shade at him? Get out of here. Get out of here. We don’t need you here, Bron. Get out of our space.”
James co-hosts “Mind the Game” with Hall of Famer Steve Nash, a show that digs into advanced strategy, player experiences and the mental side of basketball. The project has been praised for offering unique insight into how elite players view the game.
For more than a decade, Green has been a central figure in the Golden State’s dynasty. A four-time NBA champion, nine-time All-Defensive team selection, and former Defensive Player of the Year, he’s as well known for his candid personality as his on-court leadership.
Earlier at the same media session, Green spoke about his goals entering the 2025–26 NBA season, saying a 10th All-Defensive selection would “mean the world” to him. He also addressed teammate Jonathan Kuminga’s contract situation, showing support while drawing from his own past negotiations.
Green’s playful shot comes just weeks before the Warriors and Lakers meet in the opening week of the new season. The two franchises have developed one of the league’s most talked-about rivalries in recent years, with Warriors guard Steph Curry and James often at the center.
While James prepares for his record-setting 23rd NBA season, Green is entering Year 14 with the Warriors. Both remain key figures in the Western Conference race, and both continue to shape NBA headlines on and off the court.
As media day showed, sometimes the sharpest moments don’t come from game plans or contract talks, but from a quick answer and a bit of humor.
