Duop Reath To Sign With Suns

The Suns are signing free agent center Duop Reath to a one-year deal, Shams Charania reports for ESPN (via Twitter).

The third-year center saw his minutes decrease each year with the Trail Blazers, but proved himself to be a reliable stretch big. With Mark Williams set to miss extended time following shoulder surgery, Reath will serve as big man depth alongside second-year Khaman Maluach.

The deal is a one-year, veteran minimum contract, per John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Phoenix (Twitter link), who notes that Reath had several other offers. The Knicks reportedly kept an eye on him before signing James Wiseman to a training camp deal.

The 30-year-old, 6’9″ center played 8.1 minutes over 32 games for the Blazers last season, falling victim to the Blazers’ improved big man depth. He still managed to be efficient, posting a .446/.418/.833 shooting line.
