ESPN Analyst's Luka Doncic Fat Joke Draws Stunned 3-Word Reaction

The NBA world was shocked this weekend when the Lakers and the Mavericks pulled off one of the most remarkable trades in the history of the league by swapping Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic, with other parts and picks bolstering the blockbuster deal.

In the wake of the trade, which left Mavericks fans stunned and disappointed, having given up a 25-year-old megastar for a 31-year old without a hefty future return in place, it was reported by ESPN that the Mavericks were willing to move on from Doncic because they were frustrated with his ongoing lack of conditioning.

The site reported: "Though Doncic was relatively lean by his standards when he reported to camp, his weight ballooned to the high 260s early this season, sources said."

Doncic has averaged 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists this year, which is not bad for a guy who is supposedly out of shape. Still, the issue of whether he is fat has become a talking point around the league.

On Wednesday, speaking on the ESPN morning show, "Get Up," analyst Alan Hahn leaned into the Doncic-is-chubby jokes and said:

"This does feel like a future (move). Now, future does not just mean five years from now, future means next season, which puts more pressure on (Lakers GM) Rob Pelinka this offseason to make sure this works. There's a lot they can do with Luka to get him in a gym, get him on Ozempic, whatever it is gonna take to get him tight."

At that point, fellow anaylst Monica McNutt began to crack up laughing, and her response said it all: "Oh my God."

Hahn did continue after the Ozempic joke landed: "They've got to get bigger, they've got to get more 3-point shooting. That's how you build around these two guys."
