Evan Mobley Predicts MVP-Caliber Performance In 2026-27 Season

Cleveland Cavaliers star forward Evan Mobley is coming off an impressive season marked by individual greatness. In a recent video posted by a fan on social media, Mobley stated that he could win the MVP award for the 2026-27 season. 

The fan said a friend predicted in a 2022 voice note that Mobley would be MVP in 2027. Mobley replied:

"I think I can do that. That can definitely be true."

Having shown his potential, the 24-year-old aims to build on it to reach greater heights. This could be a positive sign for Cleveland as well, given that they intend to overcome the obstacles they faced last season.

Mobley's development into a star has been vital to the Cavaliers' success. At just 24 years old, with four seasons under his belt, the forward is among the most gifted two-way players in the league.

Along with his first All-Star selection and DPOY award, Mobley also finished 10th in the MVP race last season. His steady improvement was evident in his 2024-25 averages, as he put up 18.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.

At 6'11", he is one of the most versatile players in the league. With a dependable handle and keen instincts near the basket, he’s also an effective perimeter threat. Last season, he recorded shooting splits of 55.7% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range.

When considering these factors, it wouldn't be outrageous for the Cavs forward to believe he can win or at least become an MVP candidate.

All the conditions support Mobley's growth into a potential franchise player as well. As part of Cleveland's young core, the 24-year-old is surrounded by immensely talented players capable of bringing the best out of him while nurturing his potential.

Mobley is unlikely to be the team's offensive focal point. With players like Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland anchoring the offense, the Cavs forward was effectively the team's third scoring option. However, this makes his scoring average even more impressive, showcasing terrific efficiency.

The 24-year-old will face some tough competition on his journey toward becoming an MVP candidate. With MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander entering his prime and perennial candidates like Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo still dominant, Mobley must find a way to stake his claim.
