It came last year, in 2015, when the Warriors guard scored 27 out of a possible 34 points in the final round of the contest to take home the crown. It likely won’t be Curry’s last.

A role player the majority of his career, guard Marco Belinelli won the Three-Point Shootout in 2014 as a member of the Spurs. Belinelli scored 24 out of a possible 34 points in the final round to win it.

Kyrie Irving, 2013

Cavs guard Kyrie Irving didn’t even need to take off his warm-ups to win the 2013 Three-Point Contest. Irving became the second player in Cavs history win the contest, the first being Mark Price.

Then Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love won the Three-Point Contest 2012. Love beat out fellow All-Star Kevin Durant to win the title.

Although James Jones has never been more than a role player for his entire NBA career, the former Miami Heat forward did win the 2011 Three-Point Contest. Jones put up a final round score of 20, which was good enough to take home the crown.

Although he’s not known as three-point shooter, don’t tell that to Paul Pierce. The former Celtics star won the 2010 Three-Point Shootout, scoring 20 points in the finals.

Daequan Cook, 2009

Former Miami Heat guard Daequan Cook won the 2009 Three-Point Contest, putting up 19 points in the final round of the competition. It was Cook’s highlight as a professional basketball player, as he was gone from the NBA by 2013.

Former UCLA Bruins star Jason Kapono won both the 2008 and 2007 NBA Three-Point Contests. Largely a journeyman player, Kapono accomplished the feat in 2007 as a member of the Miami Heat and in 2008 as a member of the Toronto Raptors.

One of the greatest shooting big men in NBA history, Dirk Nowitzki showed off his prowess from beyond the arc in the 2006 Three-Point Contest. Scoring 18 points in the final round, the Mavericks star won the competition, beating out fellow All-Stars Ray Allen and Gilbert Arenas.

Shooting guard Quentin Richardson won the 2005 Three-Point Contest as a member of the Phoenix Suns. Richardson beat out fellow sharpshooters Ray Allen, Joe Johnson and Kyle Korver to win the title.

The 2004 NBA Three-Point Shootout belonged to former Nuggets shooting guard Voshon Leonard. Leonard needed just 18 points in the final round to win the competition.

Both the 2002 and 2003 NBA Three-Point Contests were won by former Sacramento Kings small forward Peja Stojakovic. Always an ace from beyond the arc, Stojakovic is the only player in Kings history to win the competition.

One of the greatest three-point shooters in NBA history, it’s hard to believe that Ray Allen only won one Three-Point Contest. It came in 2001, when Allen was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. Allen beat out Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash and future champ Peja Stojakovic to win his lone three-point contest.

Jeff Hornacek, 2000, 1998

Recently fired Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek was a pretty darn good shooter during his playing days with the Utah Jazz. Hornacek won both the 1998 and 2000 Three-Point Shootouts. Hornacek likely would have won three in a row had the 1999 contest not been cancelled due to the league’s lockout that year.

Current Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made a living in the NBA as player making opposing teams pay from beyond the arc. Kerr showed off his three-point shooting abilities in the 1997 contest, scoring 22 points in the finals to win it.

Former Wizards guard Tim Legler won the 1996 Three-Point Contest, scoring 20 points in the final round. Legler is currently an NBA analyst for ESPN.

Seemingly forgotten by too many basketball fans, for a few years in the 1990s, Glen Rice was one the best scorers in the NBA. Rice showcased his abilities from beyond the arc in 1995, winning that year’s NBA Three-Point Contest as a member of the Miami Heat.

The second most accurate free throw shooter in NBA history, former Cavs star Mark Price proved he was also one the NBA’s best three-point shooters when he won both the 1993 and 1994 Three-Point Contests. Price finished his career shooting better than 40 percent from three-point territory.

Former Bulls guard Craig Hodges is one of two players who can say he won three straight NBA Three-Point Shootouts. From 1990-1992, Hodges dominated the contest. In fact, Hodges even scored 25 points in one round in the inaugural 1986 contest, a record that held for nearly 30 years.

Former SuperSonics small forward Dale Ellis won the 1989 NBA Three-Point Contest, beating eight other competitors for the victory. Although if Larry Bird had not sat out that year’s competition, things may have unfolded differently.
