Ex-Celtics forward takes shot at his old team

Aaron Nesmith has taken a shot at the Boston Celtics. The fourth-year wing posted a graphic to his  Instagram Story, directly naming the Celtics for including him in the package to acquire Malcolm Brogdon. After just one season with the franchise, Brogdon was moved to the Portland Trail Blazers this summer. Yet, Nesmith has begun to thrive with the Indiana Pacers. The three-and-D wing recently signed a three-year, $33 million contract extension.

Nesmith has improved since joining the Pacers. Without Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in front of him, he's earned legitimate playing time for Rick Carlisle's team. Nesmith is turning his two-way potential into a legitimate skillset. Not only is he hitting his perimeter shots, but he's also powering his way to the rim with consistency.

Over the summer, the Vanderbilt product has added size to his frame. His handle looks tighter and he's having success around the cup. Nesmith is also a valuable defender who gives 100 percent on every defensive possession. With a new contract in hand and an ever-improving skillset, Pacers fans should be excited about what Nesmith can bring to the team.

Nesmith's time in Boston wasn't cut short due to a lack of talent. He was behind two All-NBA talents and fighting for minutes with seasoned veterans. Boston was contending for a championship. Nesmith needed developmental minutes. The fit didn't work for either side. Indiana could give Nesmith the playing time he required. In return, he's evolving into a legitimate NBA talent who can impact a game on both ends.

The Celtics traded Nesmith to get Brogdon. They also ensured Nesmith went to a situation that suited his requirements. However, judging by the forward's Instagram Story, there are still some hurt feelings over how things went down. If Nesmith was still with the Celtics, he would probably be buried on the bench with no prospect of earning himself a new deal. Things worked out just fine.
