Ex-NBA Player Makes Candid Statement Regarding Kings' Playoff Chances

The Sacramento Kings have had an interesting season thus far but the good news for them is that they will be in the Play-In Tournament.

Sacramento clinched a Play-In spot on Wednesday with the Phoenix Suns’ loss to the Golden State Warriors as they currently sit ninth in the Western Conference standings.

Of course, the Kings still have to finish the season strong to hold off the Dallas Mavericks for home-court advantage in the first round of the Play-In as Dallas sits just a game behind them in the standings.

If the Kings are able to hold onto that position, they will set themselves up nicely to advance to face the loser of the seventh against eighth seed matchup where they will then have a shot to make the playoffs.

Despite this, the Kings would have to face off against the Western Conference-best Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs if they are able to make it that far by coming out of the Play-In.

With this in mind, former NBA champion Danny Green recently gave his thoughts on the Kings’ playoff chances if they were to advance out of the Play-In Tournament.

“If they end up playing OKC in the first round, they're getting smoked,” Green said about the Kings potential first-round matchup.

Of course, the Thunder have arguably been the best team in the NBA this season and they are clearly the team to beat in the West.

Because of this, Green’s take is likely spot on as the Kings would likely have a tough time against the Thunder in the first round as they have been inconsistent with their new core since acquiring Zach LaVine at the trade deadline.

While the Kings may have a tough time if they were to face the Thunder in the first round, anything can happen in the NBA playoffs but Sacramento has to first worry about making it out of the Play-In tournament.
