The Oklahoma City Thunder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander received incredible news Wednesday when it was announced that he would bring home the NBA's Most Valuable Player award.
The announcement comes after Gilgeous-Alexander put on a master class effort in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals Tuesday night when they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Gilgeous-Alexander becomes the third player in the Thunder's history to win the award, joining Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Many will be happy to see Gilgeous-Alexander win the award after years of dominance from Nikola Jokic, the second favorite to take home the award.
However, there's still this notion about Gilgeous-Alexander that he's just a foul-baiter and that he gets undeserved calls, particularly in the playoffs.
However, former NBA player Jamal Crawford appeared on the Pat McAfee show and defended Gilgeous-Alexander.
"If you took out all his free throws, he would still lead the league in scoring," Crawford said. "It's not his fault; he's just playing the game."

Not only did Gilgeous-Alexander lead the league in scoring with 32.7 points per game, he helped the Thunder to the best record in the NBA. He also led the league in 30, 40 and 50-point games.

It's tough to say whether Thunder fans thought Gilgeous-Alexander would ever reach this point after acquiring him in the trade that sent Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.
But one thing is almost for certain: Thunder fans would much rather have Gilgeous-Alexander right now than George, not to mention the boatload of draft assets they acquired as well.
