Security wrongly escorted Florida hoops star Jason Williams, the father of Texas Tech second baseman Mia Wiliams, from the No. 11 Red Raiders’ 10-8 win over No. 6 Florida during Game 1 of the NCAA Softball Super Regional series on Friday in Gainesville, Florida.
Meanwhile there was some drama in that inning as former #Gators basketball and NBA player Jason Williams, and father of Mia Williams, was briefly removed from the game by cops

Williams claims that his daughter was hit by a fan, and it seems like said fan is leaving

The incident occurred when a Gators fan escalated an altercation involving members of the Williams family, which allegedly involved Williams’ younger sister being struck with a handheld fan, according to reporting by Gainesville.com. Jason Williams was readmitted to the stadium after the involved Florida fan was ejected.
Mia Williams notably transferred to Tech from Florida over the offseason after starting all 65 games as a sophomore. As of the postseason, Williams is hitting .435 with 77 RBI and 22 home runs for the Red Raiders. Any animosity likely stems from her decision to transfer, or perhaps they just didn’t like the now 50-year-old former Florida basketball star’s presence.
Williams was coached by the great Billy Donovan, and went on to enjoy a 13-year career in the NBA. Even after that, he’s subjected to this kind of behavior in public, and his daughter’s college softball game? Ridiculous.
