Fan who dumped popcorn on Russell Westbrook receives indefinite ban from 76ers

The fan who dumped popcorn onto Russell Westbrook's head has had his season ticket revoked by the Philadelphia 76ers, along with receiving an indefinite ban from Wells Fargo Center.

"We apologize to Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards for being subjected to this type of unacceptable and disrespectful behavior," the Sixers said in a statement announcing the fan's punishment. "There is no place for it in our sport or arena."

During Game 2 of the 76ers-Wizards series, Westbrook was heading to the locker room to have his injured ankle evaluated when a fan dropped popcorn on him from the stands. Westbrook was visibly angry and had to be restrained by several members of the Wizards' coaching staff. The fan was eventually identified and ejected from the game.

In the postgame press conference, Westbrook expressed his frustration with what happened, as well as the way that fans have continued to treat players without fear of repercussions.

"To be blatantly honest, man, this s--- is getting out of hand, especially for me," Westbrook told reporters. "The amount of disrespect, the amount of fans just doing whatever the f--- they want to do, it's just out of pocket, man. It's out of pocket, seriously."
