Final rookie extensions arrive as expected across NBA

The last batch of rookie extensions finalized before Monday’s deadline came in exactly as reported. Basically, it was a case of no surprises and no hidden clauses.

Per Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors, the deals for Christian Braun (five years, $125 million with the Nuggets), Dyson Daniels (four years, $100 million with the Hawks), and Shaedon Sharpe (four years, $90 million with the Trail Blazers) are all fully guaranteed with no options, trade kickers, or partial guarantees attached.

Braun and Sharpe’s extensions include standard 8% annual raises, while Daniels’ contract is a flat $25 million per season, Adams reported.

It’s the same structure Atlanta used last year on Jalen Johnson’s five-year, $150 million deal. So yeah, the Hawks appear comfortable prioritizing long-term flexibility over short-term cap space.

A few more contract tidbits from around the league, via Adams:

• Keaton Wallace’s one-year, minimum deal with Atlanta is partially guaranteed for $318,217. If he’s still on the roster past Jan. 7, he’ll earn his full $2.3 million salary.

• Javonte Cooke’s new two-way deal with Portland runs two years. The Blazers waived and re-signed him from his Exhibit 10 contract to secure the extra year of control.

• Aaron Nesmith’s two-year, $40.4 million extension with the Pacers includes a 7.5% trade kicker.
