LA Lakers head coach JJ Redick has been impressed by the commitment of a lot of his players.

Luka Doncic’s impressive body transformation was praised by team legend Magic Johnson, while current teammate LeBron James says he can see the benefit too.

Doncic enters the season in the best shape of his career, already displaying the benefits with a series of impressive displays at Eurobasket.

But he is not the only player who has been working hard this offseason. JJ Redick wanted to highlight another, during his rounds at media day.

JJ Redick on Austin Reaves

Speaking as part of his various media day duties, JJ Redick made sure to point out that Austin Reaves has had a body transformation of his own.

Last week Redick said Reaves was the best player in the gym in pre-training camp workouts.

Now he has offered a little more color to his comments, praising the way Reaves has got himself into the best possible shape.

Quoted via Mike Trudell, Redick said: “His body is really good right now. He’s really strong.

“His burst, his athleticism, it’s evident that he’s spent a lot of time working on his body this summer.”

Redick issued postseason warning

Speaking in the Lakers’ season exit interviews, JJ Redick issued a blunt warning to the LA Lakers players, following their 4-1 series defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Redick told the Lakers players they must return in ‘championship shape’ if they wanted to seriously contend next season.

Many took this as a gentle jab to Luka Doncic, but it was a warning to the whole Lakers roster.

Austin Reaves had extra reason to take it personally, he is now entering a contract year, where big performances are more important than ever.

It was revealed after the playoffs that Reaves was suffering with a big toe sprain. Now entering 2025/26, he is at full health and ready to go.
