The Boston Celtics had a disappointing end to their season. Despite an early comeback from Jayson Tatum, the team failed to put away the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoff round 1. Now that management is looking ahead to some fine-tuning, they have decided to bring back fan favorite Isaiah Thomas.
According to the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, the 37-year-old former NBA guard will be joining the franchise. However, this time, Thomas will join the Celtics as a pro and college scout.
In fact, the 5-foot-9 star has already commenced his work with the Boston front office earlier this week. The former star player is helping the team interview prospective draft picks at the NBA Combine.

Surely, this will feel like a back-to-home scenario for the 2-time NBA All-Star. Although the 37-year-old struggled with injuries throughout his career, most of Thomas’ success came with the Celtics. The Washington native had a great stint with the Boston Celtics from 2015 to 2017.
Impressing the crowd, the 2x NBA All-Star played a huge role in reviving the Celtics. Owing to his impressive efforts, Thomas earned consecutive All-Star selections in 2016 and 2017. Surely, with his newfound role, the 37-year-old will look to repeat his antics from his playing days and push the franchise to a potential championship run.
Interestingly, Jayson Tatum, too, wants to lock in for the same.
Following their playoff loss, Boston is being heavily linked with Giannis Antetokounmpo. And if the trade does go through, the team will receive a major boost. The trio of Jaylen Brown, Antetokounmpo, and Tatum will be quite formidable. While the possibility has not yet been confirmed, the 28-year-old hopes for an optimistic run soon.
Appearing on the ‘Glass Half Full,’ Tatum’s conversation with the host went:
“‘What’s one moment that Jayson Tatum is still chasing?’
Tatum: ‘Winning another championship and holding up Finals MVP.’
‘Can you do it in Boston?’
Tatum: ‘Absolutely.’”
