Former King Terence Davis Praises Sacramento Fanbase

The Sacramento Kings traded for Terence Davis at the 2021 NBA trade deadline, sending the Toronto Raptors just a second-round pick in exchange for the talented guard. Davis was a vital piece for Sacramento as they broke their 16-year playoff drought, but his time as a King ultimately ended following the memorable season. Despite letting him walk in the 2023 off-season, many Sacramento fans were calling for the Kings front office to bring back the 26-year-old guard.

Davis stalled in free agency until December when he was signed to the Rip City Remix, the Portland Trail Blazers' G League affiliate. Davis ruptured his Achilles recently, halting his desired return to the league, but sat down with HoopsHype to reflect on his career thus far. 

HoopsHype asked Davis about his transition from playing in Toronto to Sacramento:

"The cities are different; Toronto is more of a melting pot, and Sacramento is way more agricultural. I would say Sacramento has some of the most loyal fans; their fans are unbelievable. Still, Sacramento fans still reach out and show support to this day. Going from a 16-year playoff drought and the fans rallying around the team was incredible."

Davis spent two full seasons in Sacramento, averaging 8.6 points per game while being one of the most talented defenders on the roster. While a return to Sacramento is likely out of the picture, especially after his injury, many Kings fans appreciate Davis and his contributions as a King.

HoopsHype also asked Davis if he had any negative feelings toward the Kings after not re-signing him in the off-season:

"No, not at all. During the G League Showcase in Orlando, Sacramento Kings assistant general manager Wes Wilcox approached me before I took to the court. He extended an apology for how things didn’t work out."

Davis is a talented player, and all NBA fans should wish him a speedy recovery. Davis told HoopsHype he wants "to get back in the NBA," as many Kings fans hope he gets that opportunity in Sacramento.
