The Dallas Mavericks finished their 2025 NBA Summer League campaign with a dub in the win column.
The Dallas Mavericks’ final contest of their 2025 NBA Summer League campaign featured an easy matchup against the Orlando Magic.
Considering the Magic were 0-4 heading into the game, the Mavs were the crowd-favorite and the franchise didn’t disappoint.
The Mavericks walked away with a blowout 92-69 win over the Eastern Conference side, led by Maxwell Lewis.
The Denver Nuggets drafted Lewis with the 40th overall pick during the 2023 NBA Draft. However, the 6’7″ forward began his NBA journey with the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, being a second-round pick, Lewis fell behind in the pecking order as he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in the 2024-25 NBA season.
Now with the Mavericks, Lewis reminded fans of his scoring ability in the 23-point win against the Magic. Lewis led the game in scoring with 18 points to his name.

He also had 1 rebound and 1 assist to his name while shooting a brilliant 7-of-10 from the field.
But the most praiseworthy aspect of his game was his three-point shooting. In just 15 minutes of playing time, Lewis went off from deep, finishing the game with a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Unlike the top picks in NBA Drafts, second-round picks do not get multiple years to prove their worth to the franchise.
Similar was the case with Lewis, who will soon turn 23 years old. Speaking of his NBA career, he has played in just 62 games, averaging 2.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game.
Lewis has played well in the G-League, putting up 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game over 27 starts for the South Bay Lakers.
However, the biggest flaw in Lewis’ game is his somewhat underwhelming shooting. He shot just 38.0% from the field during his NBA career.
Even in the G League, Lewis has a career average of 41.2% from the field. Unless Lewis can consistently shoot well from the floor like he did vs the Magic, it’s hard to see him earning a permanent deal with any NBA team.
