The Dallas Mavericks stunned the basketball world by trading the face of their franchise to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
The Mavericks and Lakers swapped stars Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis - among other pieces - in a trade that rocked the NBA. In the two days following the trade, details about the decision have slowly trickled out.
On Monday afternoon, former Mavericks player Chandler Parsons revealed new details on how Doncic found out he was being traded - and how he initially reacted to the news that he was headed to Los Angeles for the Lakers big man.
"[Luka Doncic] just bought a $15M house, just closed like last week in Dallas and apparently he cried when he found out [about the trade]. This is your everything that got you to the conference finals last year," Parsons said.
"I just find it to be extreme BS and the narrative needs to change around when players make decisions like this to understand that's better for their future, for their family, their life. Nico did this because he thinks it's better for the Mavs so it's not a consistent thing and we always get caught up on the player leaving like he's a bad guy. Like Jimmy Butler wants to be traded right now probably for a real reason - and he's off the hook in my opinion based on this one move."
"I find it extremely disrespectful... I'm also not buying that [Jason] Kidd just didn't know... [Luka Doncic] just bought a $15M house, just closed like last week in Dallas... He cried when he found out."

Luka's father was furious with the move as well.
"I understand there comes a moment when you disagree with a certain philosophy," he Doncic said, as translated by Arena Sport. "You don't like this or that player, all good -- I get it. But I think that exactly this secrecy, or should I say from some individuals, maybe even hypocrisy, this hurts me personally. Because I think that Luka absolutely doesn't deserve this."
Doncic is targeting his Lakers debut around the All-Star break, according to multiple reports.
