Eight years ago, Blaise Thomassie dreamed of playing in the NBA. Now, the six-foot-four, 265-pound offensive lineman is closing in on a future in college football, narrowing his choices to five programs: Florida, TCU, Tulane, Stanford, and Duke.

Thomassie, a three-star prospect out of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has emerged as one of the more intriguing offensive line recruits in the 2026 class. His combination of size, athleticism, and raw power has drawn interest from several top programs, and his decision is expected to come in the next few months.

While basketball was his first love, Thomassie’s transition to football has been seamless. His footwork, developed from years on the hardwood, has translated well to the trenches, allowing him to move efficiently and engage defenders with precision. His ability to anchor the line and create space for the run game has made him a coveted recruit.

Each of his finalists offers something unique. Florida and TCU provide opportunities to play in high-powered offenses, while Tulane has built a reputation for developing linemen. Stanford and Duke, known for their strong academic programs, could appeal to Thomassie’s long-term goals beyond football.

With his recruitment heating up, Thomassie is weighing his options carefully. His journey from aspiring basketball player to sought-after offensive lineman is a testament to his adaptability and work ethic. Wherever he lands, he’ll bring a unique skill set that could make an impact at the next level.
