Former Ole Miss Forward Lands Deal With Brooklyn Nets

The Ole Miss men's basketball team made a run to the Sweet 16 last season under second-year head coach Chris Beard. This was a historic campaign for the Rebels, as this was the furthest they had advanced in the NCAA Tournament in over 20 years.

While coach Beard and the program are surely gaining momentum, they may be stymied by the fact that most of their roster from last year has now graduated. In fact, seven of the team's top eight scorers from last season are no longer at Ole Miss.

Malik Dia is the lone returner from the core rotation as several of his teammates tried their luck in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Ole Miss has not had a player selected in the NBA Draft since 2010, and once again, no Rebels heard their names called in 2025. However, a handful of players landed Summer League deals.

On Saturday, John Chepkevich reported that former Ole Miss forward Dre Davis signed a Summer League contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

Davis joined the Rebels for his fifth and final collegiate season, as he split the previous four years at Louisville and Seton Hall. As a fifth-year senior, he averaged 10.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound forward started in all 34 games that he played for the Rebels during the 2024-25 season.

Teammates Sean Pedulla and Matthew Murrell have also been given a chance to compete for an NBA roster spot with the Portland Trailblazers and Utah Jazz, respectively.
