Former Pacers Star Reacts to Myles Turner's Chet Holmgren Block

Myles Turner scored just nine points in Game 3 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night, but he made his presence felt on the defensive side of the floor.

The former Texas Longhorns star swatted away five shots, and among his victims was Thunder power forward Chet Holmgren.

Following the Pacers’ 116-107 victory in Game 3, Indiana shared a photo of Turner’s block on Holmgren. Former Pacers rim protector Roy Hibbert later saw that post, and he couldn’t resist reacting to it.

“I approve,” commented Hibbert, who played his first seven seasons in the NBA with the Pacers from 2008-09 to 2014-15.

The Pacers’ defense and hustle caused plenty of trouble for Oklahoma City, which committed 19 turnovers. Indiana had 11 blocks and 13 steals, with the likes of Turner and T.J. McConnell wreaking havoc with their defensive tenacity.

Hibbert can relate to the role Turner is playing for the Pacers. He used to be Indiana’s defensive pillar, a big threat in the shaded area, whose size and length created problems for the other side.

During his time with the Pacers, the 7-foot-2 Hibbert averaged 1.9 blocks per game and finished 10th in the 2012-13 NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting.

The 29-year-old Turner also added to his Pacers legacy in Game 3 by becoming the franchise’s all-time playoff leader in blocks, passing former Indiana center Jermaine O’Neal.

So far in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Turner is averaging 2.3 blocks per game.

With a 2-1 series lead, the Pacers can push Oklahoma City closer to the edge by winning Game 4 on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
