Former top 10 draft pick Nik Stauskas scores 57 in G-League game

Nik Stauskas didn't live up to his top 10 draft pick billing with the Sacramento Kings and subsequently bounced around the NBA, but on Tuesday he showed every bit of the potential that made him a lofty selection.

In a game with the Grand Rapids Gold -- the G-League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets -- Stauskas dropped 57 points with 11 successful three-pointers on 15 attempts.

Stauskas, 28, dropped a G-League record 38 points in the first half and finished with the sixth highest scoring total in league history. It was the most points ever scored in a single-game by a Gold player.

In January, Stauskas had a brief stint with the Miami Heat when the team signed him to a 10-day contract due to an outbreak of COVID-19. In two appearances, Stauskas scored 11 points, three rebounds, and one assist. It was his first NBA action since the 2019 season when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
