In the peaceful Athens suburb of Paleo Psychiko, Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family are beginning a new chapter. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar has officially moved his wife and four children to Greece, symbolizing a meaningful homecoming to the city where his incredible story started.

Earlier this year, Giannis Antetokounmpo chose to permanently relocate his family to Greece, where his wife Mariah and their children—Liam-Charles, 5, Maverick-Shai, 4, Eva-Brooke, 2, and baby Aria-Capri, 4 months—now live in a custom-built penthouse within a modern multi-unit residence in Paleo Psychiko.

The apartment complex, which Giannis purchased in 2023, will also serve as a home for his brothers and mother, bringing the Antetokounmpo family together under one roof in Athens.

The Antetokounmpos’ move to Greece came after Mariah Antetokounmpo was asked whether she preferred living in Milwaukee, where Giannis plays for the Bucks, or in Athens—and she chose the Greek capital.

Reports also mentioned that Mariah and their children plan to return to Milwaukee for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

It’s fairly common for NBA players to live apart from their families, particularly when they’ve been recently traded or have already established their home base in another city.

While his family settles into their new home in an upscale Athens neighborhood, Giannis Antetokounmpo will focus on leading the Bucks back into title contention, though he’ll have limited support in that effort.

Giannis has shared his desire to eventually end his career in Greece, ideally before turning 40, if the right situation presents itself. While his NBA contract runs through 2027, his long-term focus remains deeply tied to his home country.

The Bucks made an aggressive move this offseason, cutting ties with Damian Lillard and quickly using the temporary cap space to bring in former Pacers big man Myles Turner. They’re counting on Turner to deliver the mix of perimeter shooting and interior defense that Brook Lopez, now with the Los Angeles Clippers, anchored for years.

Outside of Antetokounmpo and Turner , the Bucks don’t have much to get excited about, with most of their perimeter scoring relying on journeymen such as Kevin Porter Jr. and Kyle Kuzma.

Still, Milwaukee will open its 2025-26 campaign on October 22 at home against the Washington Wizards.
