Giannis Antetokounmpo making 'significant progress' in recovery from hyperextended knee

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn't played since he hyperextended his left knee during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Atlanta Hawks on June 29.

Per Jared Greenberg of NBA TV, Antetokounmpo is currently working out at a private gym and has made "significant progress" in his recovery from that setback.

Over the weekend, Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters that the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player was considered "day-to-day" but wanted to play in Games 5 and 6 versus Atlanta. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported Antetokounmpo would've been cleared to take the court for Game 7 had the Hawks avoided elimination.

His status for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night may not be finalized until minutes before tipoff.
