The NBA offseason is expected to be dominated by two of the league’s biggest names. On the trade market, all eyes remain on Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, whose future continues to be one of the league’s biggest unresolved storylines. Antetokounmpo is entering the final guaranteed year of his contract and remains eligible for a massive extension, leaving the Bucks with significant decisions ahead.

Meanwhile, free agency is expected to revolve around LeBron James. After completing his 23rd NBA season, James remains one of the sport’s most influential figures, but uncertainty continues to surround his future as he weighs the next chapter of his career. NBA analysts have spent months discussing whether he will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers, explore another opportunity or even consider retirement.

While speculation about both superstars continues, James made headlines this week for a different reason.

On Tuesday, Time unveiled its inaugural TIME100 Sports issue, naming James as one of the publication’s most influential figures in global sports and featuring him on the cover. The feature included a wide-ranging interview with James covering his career, legacy, business ventures, and future in basketball.

James shared the announcement on Instagram, drawing congratulations reactions from fans and athletes throughout the sports world. Among those who responded was Antetokounmpo, who reacted with folded hand and heart emojis:

The reaction was hardly surprising given the admiration Antetokounmpo has consistently shown toward James throughout his career.

Earlier this year, after a game between the Bucks and Lakers, Antetokounmpo described James as “a blueprint for every athlete” and praised the longevity, consistency and professionalism that have defined his career. He added that he has “the utmost respect” for James and his family and called competing against him an opportunity he never takes for granted.

Antetokounmpo has also publicly referred to James as his greatest player of all time.

At the moment, questions about the future of both stars continue to grow. Until those answers arrive, the NBA world will continue monitoring two future Hall of Famers whose next moves could greatly impact the upcoming season.
