Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is the biggest star still involved in NBA trade rumors. Coming off another All-NBA First Team season in which he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists, the 30-year-old is known to be assessing his future.
Earlier this offseason, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reported mutual interest between Antetokounmpo and the Toronto Raptors. That buzz died down when Antetokounmpo himself stated his desire to return to Milwaukee for a 12th NBA season (h/t Eurohoops).
On Thursday, there was a new trade report on the 2021 Finals MVP that has reignited the belief he could in fact leave Milwaukee before the summer ends.
During an appearance on ESPN's Get Up show, NBA insider Shams Charania did not rule out the possibility of an Antetokounmpo deal later this offseason ( h/t Bleacher Report).
"His future, I've said it for the last few weeks, it won't be tied to the draft, it won't be tied to free agency," Charania said. "If there is a resolution on Giannis Antetokounmpo, it could be later in the summer."
Just hours after this report, Antetokounmpo took to Instagram with a three-word message.
"Confidence is silent ," he wrote.
While this was a cryptic message that did not directly address the trade rumors surrounding him, Antetokounmpo certainly caught the attention of several NBA fanbases.
"Come to Toronto ," one asked.
"Come to Toronto pls," said another.
"Request the trade already ," said one.
"Come to warriors ," requested another.
"request a trade bucks aint gon grant u a championship anytime soon," one stated.
