Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo knows that criticizing the officiating of an NBA game can burn a big hole in the pocket. So, instead of going off on the refs after the Bucks’ 135-133 loss at home to the Sacramento Kings, the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player simply decided to keep mum on a controversial non-call late in the game on Sunday.

With the Bucks down by three points and with only 1.1 seconds left in regulation, AJ Green went to the line to shoot a couple of free throws. Green made the first one and missed the second.

Antetokounmpo tried to go after the rebound, but Kings guard Russell Westbrook appeared to grab him, slowing the Milwaukee star. However, no foul was called to the chagrin of Antetokounmpo and everyone cheering for the Bucks.

“I don’t want to comment on the last play, what I thought it was. I don’t want to get fined,” Antetokounmpo simply said after the game (h/t Eric Nehm of The Athletic).

That sentiment was echoed as well by Milwaukee big man Myles Turner.

“I get my teammates’ frustrations…I’ll watch my comments. I don’t need no smoke from the league right now,” Turner shared.

Giannis Antetokounmpo put up big numbers in Bucks loss to Kings

The loss to the Kings spoiled Antetokounmpo’s return from a one-game absence due to left knee soreness. He finished the meeting with Sacramento with 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field, 11 rebounds, eight assists an a steal and a block in 32 minutes of action.

Over the side of the Kings, they were led by DeMar DeRozan’s 29-point night.

The Bucks dropped to 4-2 and will look to turn things around on Monday when they visit the Indiana Pacers.
