The 2025-26 NBA season will be an important one for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. After months of being in trade rumors, the 30-year-old is primed to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks next season as the team looks to re-establish itself as title contenders following a busy offseason.
Though Bucks fans will have to wait roughly two months before they get to see their team in action, they will have an opportunity to see some of their players on the court before then during EuroBasket 2025. This includes Antetokounmpo, who is representing Greece.
On Tuesday, Greece took on Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, before the game, Antetokounmpo suffered an injury scare that may worry Bucks fans ahead of next season.
Antetokounmpo has been fantastic during EuroBasket so far and is proving to be crucial to Greece's success. However, in an unfortunate development for him and the team, the former NBA Finals MVP was a late scratch against Bosnia and Herzegovina due to knee discomfort.
Without their star player, Greece suffered their first loss of the tournament after being defeated by a score of 80-77.

Antetokounmpo's next opportunity to suit up in EuroBasket will be on Thursday when Greece takes on Spain.
Milwaukee had been considered potential championship contenders in every season since winning it all in 2021. This was especially true when the team acquired star guard Damian Lillard in 2023. However, things look completely different for the Bucks two years later, though they still have their sights set on making another deep playoff run.
This summer, the Bucks moved on from Lillard after two seasons, who has since re-joined the Portland Trail Blazers. Additionally, Milwaukee lost Brook Lopez to the Los Angeles Clippers and traded Pat Connaughton to the Charlotte Hornets.
On the flip side, the Bucks made some big moves in the offseason, most notably prying Myles Turner away from the Indiana Pacers in free agency.
In a wide-open Eastern Conference, the Bucks have a chance to make some noise once again and prove to the basketball world that they can compete for a championship again. However, the Bucks will only go as far as Antetokounmpo will take them, and he will be vital to their success next season.
As it stands, it seems that the Greek native is committed to remaining with the Bucks, and that was only established even more after the team re-signed his brother Thanasis. Ahead of his 13th season in Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo will aim to bring another championship home to the franchise next year, no matter how tall a task it may prove to be.
