The Golden State Warriors prepared to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday leading up to their scheduled 8:30 p.m. ET tip-off for Game 2 in Minneapolis.
The Warriors stole Game 2 at the Target Center without Stephen Curry for most of the game as the Warriors superstar was sidelined with a left hamstring injury after 13 minutes of play.
The Warriors are known as a forward-thinking organization under Co-Executive Chairman and CEO Joe Lacob, with cutting edge training methods and an emphasis on providing a full-fledged fan experience at the Chase Center and through its online properties.
Recently, Lacob announced a major shift in the branding and promotional strategies of the Warriors heading into the meat of the postseason and into the offseason.
Lacob announced the Warriors will begin a rebranding operation that encompasses their NBA franchise along with the WNBA's new Golden State Valkyries franchise, Thrive City, a gathering and wellness based space at the Chase Center, and the Chase Center itself.
The organization's brand name will now be called Golden State instead of GSW Sports LLC.
Changes have been made to the app, which is now called the Golden State app instead of the Warriors + Chase Center app. The Warriors Community Foundation has been renamed to the Golden State Community Foundation.
The Warriors Shop has been renamed the Golden State Shop, and the Warriors Basketball Academy has been named the Golden State Sports Academy, with each division expanding as a result of the Valkyries' inaugural season in the WNBA.
"This rebrand is the natural next step in our continued business evolution from a sports franchise to a sports and entertainment company," Lacob said.
"With the launch of the Golden State Valkyries this season and the growing recognition around Chase Center, Thrive City and our other exciting entities, including the Warriors, now is the perfect time to tie all of this together under one umbrella."
