The Golden State Warriors proved to the entire NBA that their win over the LA Lakers was no fluke, and that they are legitimate title contenders.

After the Golden State Warriors beat the LA Lakers in their opening night fixture, many fans felt they rubber-stamped themselves as contenders to win the NBA title

In particular, Jonathan Kuminga looked like the player the Warriors needed, having addressed a lot of the criticism placed around him.

But there are still those who are skeptical about their team. In fact, Paul Pierce believes the Warriors’ title window is over, and they won’t compete for a championship.

And in their loss to the Denver Nuggets, that was proven wrong, as they showed that they are legitimate contenders, as they knocked off one of the best teams in the West.

Warriors show their championship pedigree in win over Nuggets

The Golden State Warriors looked down and out in the fourth quarter, trailing the Nuggets by 7 points. Aaron Gordon had the game of his career, going 10-11 from beyond the arc.

But that’s when Stephen Curry came alive, scoring several big shots to tie the game, and get the Warriors within closing range.

After forcing the Nuggets into overtime, the Warriors took over, eventually winning the game by six points to go 2-0.

Despite the Nuggets having one of the best rosters in the NBA, and their stars having a brilliant offensive night, the Warriors held on to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Many felt that their win over the LA Lakers was nothing more than what it was, as the Lakers are still struggling with injuries and chemistry.

Well, those criticisms can now go out the window, as the Warriors just knocked off one of the best teams in the Western Conference.

Golden State Warriors’ biggest challenge will be against OKC Thunder

Having started the season 2-0 after beating two teams that many felt would be in the mix for an NBA championship, the Warriors have plenty of reasons to feel confident about themselves.

The Warriors put this roster together to try and maximize their title window. The arrival of Al Horford is huge for the Warriors’ title hopes, as they finally have a strong option at center.

But their biggest test will come early in November, as they take on the defending champions OKC Thunder. If the Warriors can beat the Thunder, they will rubber-stamp themselves as one of the favorites.

But as we’ve seen in their first two games, beating the OKC Thunder is no easy task, even if you can push them to double overtime.
