Golden State Warriors Could Have 'Realistic' Chance to Pursue Boston Celtics Star

The Golden State Warriors are fresh off an impressive campaign, which saw them knock off the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Built around franchise superstar Stephen Curry, the Warriors added Jimmy Butler, which helped propel them to dark horse contender status.

Draymond Green continues to provide high value on the defensive side of the ball and as a playmaker, too.

With their current status in mind, Golden State can make a few tweaks to ensure its ability to contend for a title next season.

Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. understands the team needs to add a center and shooting around the Curry-led squad.

The current landscape of the NBA lends a hand in who the Warriors can pursue this offseason, even if those conversations haven't yet begun.

The Boston Celtics are one team to keep an eye on for a fire sale, as Jayson Tatum's season-ending injury might lead the team to reduce costs and trade away salary.

According to Jake Weinbach, the Warriors could become a "realistic" suitor for Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis.

While Porzingis' career has been marked by shaky availability, he was pivotal in helping Boston to a title win in 2024. Adding his size and shooting ability to the Warriors' system could be seamless.

If the Celtics opt to get younger and want to add some youth following the Tatum news, a sign-and-trade idea involving Jonathan Kuminga certainly wouldn't hurt Boston, and it might be the best return they get for the 7-foot-3 Latvian.

Naz Reid is another offseason target that might be worth giving a look for the Warriors, as their need to upgrade the big man position is glaring.

Regardless, the franchise knows what position they are in with Curry and Butler at the helm, and Golden State needs to try and capitalize on the next couple of seasons.
