Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski showed a bit of improvement in his second year in the NBA. Podz had a few more games where he was a starter, earning the trust of the coaching staff and his teammates. In his first season, the former Santa Clara guard had 28 starts. That increased to 33 in his sophomore season, with 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
In the 2025 NBA playoffs, he proved to be an effective player for the Warriors. Out of the 12 games he played in the postseason, he had 11 starts. He performed well on the floor with averages of 11.3 points, five rebounds and 3.1 assists.
During their postseason run, Podz had two games in which he scored at least 20 points. He’s shown that even under pressure, he is not bothered but is focused on doing his job to help his team in whatever way he can.
With his improved game in his second year, he is determined to take the next step and take the leap in his third year. When he was a guest on the “Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams” on Tuesday, he discussed his desire to perform well and, ideally, make it to the 2028 Olympics and the All-Star team soon.
“Obviously, I want to be an All-Star — as soon as I can be — whether that’s with Steph and them here, or it’s when they’re done. I want to do that. I want to be an Olympian in 2028 — definitely something I have my sights on. And I just want to be a household name, somewhere where it can be me and a bunch of other guys winning a championship. That’d be kind of ideal for me,” Podz said.
With how he played in the recent season, the Golden State Warriors guard could be the successor of Stephen Curry once the star steps away from basketball.
The Golden State Warriors guard gets honest with the New York Knicks’ postseason chances against the Oklahoma City Thunder
The New York Knicks didn’t have enough to defeat the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals, which is why their season ended. Many thought the Knicks could have been the team that faced the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
After their elimination, the Golden State Warriors guard dropped a truth bomb about a hypothetical matchup between the Knicks and Thunder.
“I don’t think the Knicks had enough to compete with OKC, both offensively and defensively. So I think the Pacers on any given night, they play with 10 guys, and there’s games where all 10 of them score in double figures,” Podz said.
“So you don’t always necessarily know where the points are coming from with Indiana. And I think that’s what OKC is really good at stopping.”
In the end, Podz credited the Thunder for being a tough team.
